At Enovis™ we provide better treatment outcomes, better education for clinicians, and providing better tools that clinicians can use to make the best decisions for their practices and patients.
Investing in modalities is a big step. Whether it is your first modality or you are growing your portfolio, we are here to help at each stage of the process. Shockwave Therapy is a very well documented modality that is used in many clinics and proven to benefit patient outcomes.
Whilst our clinical team are on hand to provide product support, we know there is more to the decision making process than purely clinical outcomes. Based on feedback from clinicians, we have developed the following guide, including the Chattanooga ‘Return on Investment’ Calculator for you to help give an overview of the costs involved.
There are a number of important considerations aside from the pure cost of the device.
• Number of Patients
Naturally, the time it will take to re-pay the cost of your new modality will depend on the number of patients that you see. It will also depend on the conditions they are presenting with. The clinical evidence suggests that most patients will require a maximum of 3-4 treatments with Radial Pressure Wave (RPW) or Focused Shockwave (FSW)
• Number of Clinicians
Having multiple clinicians trained on using the device will allow you to fully maximise its potential, whilst also giving more patients access. Enovis provide full training on our devices and will also provide access to our dedicated online training platforms.
• Patient Conditions
RPW and FSW are very versatile modalities. To get the most out of your RPW device, there are a selection of Transmitter Heads that penetrate to varying tissue depths. This allows optimal treatment to be delivered, specific to the region you are treating. You may require additional Transmitter Heads, in addition to the standard ones provided with your device. Due to the increased power and treatment depth of FSW, you can be more specific with your treatment and cover a wider range of indications.
• Servicing
You need to look after your device to ensure it stays in optimum condition. We work closely with servicing partners who can assist with this. Equally, we provide useful educational resources to give you the best advice to look after your device.
• Pricing Structure
This really varies on the clinic. We suggest you charge for the treatment on top of your regular appointment. Another way is to sell as a ‘package’, but this is up to you and what works best for your clinics structure. Prices that clinics charge vary by region, but it is totally accepted that Shockwave is a service that should be charged for. Application of Shockwave Therapy is a clinical skill that should be valued by patients. In some cases, clinics charge more for FSW than RPW but this is at your own discretion.
• Insurance Re-imbursement
Insurance companies will typically cover up to 3 sessions for patients. The amount they re-imburse clinics for this will vary. It is worth considering this when determining your pricing structure.
